About the Center
The Center for Protein Design is a new initiative between the Department of Biology and the Department of Drug Design and Pharmacy at the University of Copenhagen.
It is a multidisciplinary center that will work across the university—notably with the Departments of Chemistry and Computer Science—and with national and international academic and industrial partners.
At capacity, it is anticipated that the CPD will have ≈8 research groups, and ≈70 researchers and support staff.
Research will encompass the growing protein-design landscape with computational, experimental, applied and hybrid projects.
The CPD will be housed in purposed-built laboratories and offices at the Pharma Campus at the University of Copenhagen.
Collaboration
The CPD unites researchers across the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen who are interested in de novo protein design and/or applying it to their research programmes. In addition, the CPD is an outwardly facing centre that will foster interdisciplinary collaborations and partnerships across Denmark and internationally. For instance, an early link is to the Engineering Biology initiative at the University of Bristol.
Further details will appear here as the CPD and its collaborations grow.
Funded by
The CPD is funded by a 700M DKK (≈94M Euro) grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation for 7 years with the possibility of an extension.
